Should your profile be on Google?
Every dog sitter and dog walker is different. Some want to stay low key, working only for friends, family and people they send their link to. Others want to find new clients and stay busy. The DoggyDesk works for both, and you choose.
Private: low key
Your profile and booking page do not appear when someone searches Google for a dog sitter or walker. You share your booking link directly with the people you choose, by text, WhatsApp or email, and it works exactly the same.
Private suits you if you want to keep your business small, or you only need The DoggyDesk to manage the clients you already have.
Public: find new clients
Your profile can be found on Google. When someone in your area searches for a dog sitter or walker, your profile can show up in the results, with your reviews. It is a way to grow your business without paying another platform to list you.
Good reviews help here. See getting your first reviews from real clients.
How to choose
- Create your booking link first. Your profile can only go Public once you have one.
- Open Visibility & search. It is on the Profile tab (under More on a phone). Search engine visibility shows Hidden from Google or Visible on Google.
- Choose Public or Private. You are asked to confirm before anything changes.
Public or Private is only about Google. It does not change who can book you or which days are open. To stop taking new bookings for a while, use the separate Open and Paused switch instead.
Questions and answers
Is my profile on Google when I sign up?
No. Every new account starts as Private. Your profile only appears on Google if you choose to switch to Public.
Can clients still book me if my profile is Private?
Yes. Anyone you send your booking link to can see your profile and book you.
Can I go back to Private?
Yes, at any time, and you will be hidden from new searches. But Google can take several weeks to remove what it already shows, so treat going Public as a one-way decision.
