Set up your profile and get your booking link

Here is everything between signing up and sharing your first booking link, in the order you will meet it.

1. Sign up

Choose what you offer: boarding and day care, dog walking, or both. Then add your name, mobile number, town (pick it from the list) and full postcode. You can sign in with Google or Apple, or use an email address and password. If you use email, click the link we send you to confirm it.

2. Complete your profile

After signing up you land on the Profile tab of your dashboard (on a phone it is under More), which shows how complete your profile is. Press Edit Profile and finish every section marked “To finish”:

  • Basic information: your name, phone number, town and postcode (mostly done at sign-up).
  • Your details for booking confirmations: your full legal name. It is only shown to clients who have booked with you, so they know who they are paying. It never appears on your public profile or in Google. A trading name is optional.
  • About you: a short bio, up to 500 characters.
  • Boarding & Day Care details (if you offer boarding): a description of your boarding service, your price per night, what you would like to know about a client’s dog, and your property type.
  • Dog Walking details (if you offer walking): a description of your walking service, the areas you walk, your price per walk and the maximum number of dogs per walk.

Answers such as “none” or “n/a” do not count as filled in, so give each field a real answer.

3. Open some dates on your calendar

A new calendar starts with every day unavailable, so you decide which dates you want bookings for. Go to the Calendar tab. Each day has two halves, before 2pm and after 2pm: tap each half to turn it green, which means public. Open at least the next few weeks to get started.

Blue days are private, for regulars you approve, and grey days are unavailable. To see how the calendar works, read how your booking calendar stops double bookings.

When every section is complete, your Profile tab says “Your profile is ready” and shows a Create your booking link button. Pick one of the suggested links, built from your name and town, or type your own using lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens (3 to 40 characters).

Check the spelling carefully. Your link is permanent, like a house move: once clients and Google know it, it stays fixed so nothing you have shared ever breaks. On this screen it is shown in full, like thedoggydesk.co.uk/dog-sitters/your-town/your-name (or dog-walkers for walkers). Afterwards your dashboard also gives you a short version to share: thedoggydesk.co.uk/book/your-name.

5. Share it

Copy your link or press Share and send it to your clients. For ideas on where to share it, and how to show your calendar on your own website, see a dog walking or dog sitting booking calendar you can use anywhere.

Public or Private?

Your profile starts as Private, which means it is hidden from Google and only people you share your booking link with can find it. You can change this under Visibility & search on the Profile tab, but think carefully before choosing Public: once Google has indexed your profile, we cannot guarantee it can be fully removed again.

Public or Private is separate from Open or Paused, and from marking days Unavailable. See how to block off a holiday without pausing your bookings.

Questions and answers

Why do I need to give my legal name?

So that a client who pays you by card knows who they are paying. It is only shown to clients who have booked with you, never on your public profile or in Google.

Can I change my booking link later?

No. Your link is permanent once you create it, so check the spelling before you confirm.

Do I have to make my profile Public?

No. You can keep your profile Private and simply share your booking link with the people you want to book you.
